East Bay Roots, LLC gathers on the unceded territory of the Miwok, Bay Miwok/Saclan, Yukuts, and Muwekma Ohlone.
Our Role in Empowering Indigenous Communities
We acknowledge the land on which we gather is the seized territory of the Miwok, Bay Miwok/Saclan, Delta Yukuts, and the Muwekma Ohlone. In returning to our roots, it is our responsibility to maintain the memory, protect the legacy, and honor the land and people who came before us, and to also recognize that the first peoples are alive and thriving members of the Walnut Creek and the greater East Bay community.
Our Plan to Uplift and Empower
At EBR, we strive to continue our learning about our first peoples & their impact. By educating our teachers on cultural practices, participating in native workshops, & learning from indigenous knowledge keepers, we strive to weave cultural humility into the work we do with children, families, & our wider community.
